From Failing Fascia and Broken Gutters to a Complete Structural Rebuild
Challenge
This property was suffering from severe structural and gutter failure. The fascia boards were oversaturated and rotted, in some areas not even strong enough to hold a nail. Gutters were hanging on weak ¾" boards, with rafters cut short and nails missing the mark entirely. Snow and ice load ripped sections away, leaving broken seams, exposed wood, and widespread water damage. To make matters worse, a hidden wasp nest and long-term leaks had compromised safety and added to the urgency. Every rainfall risked more damage to the roofline, soffit, siding, and foundation.
Solution
We started by removing all rotten fascia and extending the rafters to create a strong, supportive base. New fascia boards were installed straight, not angled, and secured properly to ensure long-term stability. With a rebuilt structure in place, we installed seamless gutters and downspouts designed to handle heavy water flow, prevent clogging, and move water safely away from the home. Strategic placement eliminated weak drainage points and distributed water flow evenly, including across the carport and rear sections of the house.
Transformation:
The difference is dramatic. What was once a patchwork of sagging gutters and rotting wood is now a straight, seamless, reinforced gutter system that enhances the home’s curb appeal while protecting it from costly water damage. The fascia is secure, the roofline is clean, and the gutter system is built to withstand both heavy rain and Utah’s snow load without failure.
The Permanent Answer:
While this rebuild solved the immediate issues and restored the system to full function, the ultimate upgrade is Gutter Shutter. With its clog-free design, lifetime guarantee, and heavy-duty build, it permanently eliminates the cycle of gutter cleaning, fascia replacement, and water damage repairs.
