When Rainwater Goes the Wrong Way

Sometimes the problem isn’t that the home has no gutter system. It’s that the system doesn’t work.

That was the case at this home in Herriman, where rainwater was doing everything except flowing where it should. The original downspouts were misaligned and water was collecting at the base of the house. No proper connector. No smooth flow. Just erosion waiting to happen.

And that wasn’t all.

While inspecting the roofline, we found roofing nails placed too high, some exposed, and shingle holes left open to the elements. Left alone, it would only take one rough storm to send water under the shingles and into the home.

We installed 5 inch Emerald Standard gutters and matched the new downspouts precisely to the home’s underground drainage system. A wide-mouth adapter was used to prevent backup and ensure smooth flow in high-volume areas. Every seam was sealed, and the fit was locked in tight.

For gutter protection, we used Raindrop. It filters out leaves and debris without blocking the water. That means fewer cleanings and no more buildup. We also sealed off every exposed nail and shingle defect we found during the install.

Now the system performs the way it should.

Water flows away from the home. The entrance looks sharp. And the fascia, roofline, and foundation are no longer under daily attack from misplaced water.

This kind of fix isn’t just about today’s rain. It’s about keeping the structure sound and the future repairs off your to-do list.

If your gutters are showing signs of age or your downspouts just aren’t cutting it, we’re here to rebuild it right.

And if you’re ready to be done with seasonal clogs and gutter cleaning altogether, we’ll show you how a system like Gutter Shutter can eliminate that problem for life.
